Savvy business owners know that our digital society has changed how customers find products and services. Using Google (or any search engine) is usually the starting place; and with smartphones and tablets the norm, it is even easier for consumers to get the information they need at their fingertips.

As a consultant to the Small Business Development Center teaching social media workshops, I interact with hundreds of business owners who know they need to be proactive in using technology and the Internet to connect with their customers. A starting point is by creating a social media strategy (yes, this is a workshop I teach, find out more here), and one of the frequently asked questions I receive during this workshop is “how can I improve my business ranking in Google search by using social media?”

In the short video below, you will learn:

  • The connection between social media and search rankings
  • Why it is important to “own” the first page of Google for your business
  • How an optimized page looks with social media results
  • The action steps you can take, right now, to improve your results in Google search.
