Women Entrepreneurs Rock #7

7th Annual Women Entrepreneurs Rock Event Kicks of Virtually November 12

Marching on with a New Monthly Webinar Series through March 2021

November 12, 2020 (Lincroft, NJ) – The New Jersey Small Business Development Center at Brookdale Community College will host its seventh annual Women Entrepreneurs Rock virtually on Thursday, November 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. As with most things in 2020, this signature event’s format will change, but the goal of “Women Entrepreneurs Rock” (also known as WeRock) remains to facilitate a dialogue about women’s topics in business, which is more relevant than ever.

Women Entrepreneurs Rock (WER) is in its 7th year and is usually held at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. WER has a strong reputation for being a platform and resource for women looking to go against the grain and push forward with striving and succeeding in their businesses, despite adversity. The WER program generally attracts over 400 attendees each year. This year lends to a notably different event, as we’re presenting it 100% virtually to ensure the health and safety of all participants, attendees, and staff involved. It is also different in terms of how women-owned businesses have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

Today, four out of every 10 businesses in the United States are women-owned for a total of more than 12 million businesses. Unfortunately, many women already start a step (or two) behind men in the entrepreneurial world. Lack of funding, lack of confidence, and market saturation have presented significant challenges for women in business, all of which are compounded by the current pandemic and economic crisis.

Each year, the WER program focuses on a central theme. This year is no different. We are holding this year’s WER event in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her lifelong fight for equality, especially regarding how key events helped all women be the formidable leaders and entrepreneurs we can be.

This year’s WER program kicks off November 12, 2020. The program will extend to a monthly webinar series ending with a comprehensive event on Monday, March 8, 2021, International Women’s Day. The series will address women’s business owners’ needs and showcase successful role models in various business sectors.

“Women entrepreneurs have made tremendous progress, and we are determined not to let this pandemic set them back,” said Jackeline Mejias-Fuertes, director of the NJSBDC at Brookdale Community College. “In addition to our centerpiece event on November 12, we are excited to expand the program and continue the conversation around the legacy of RBG so we can recognize the power of our influence.”

Helping us to kick-off this year’s inaugural event is:

New Jersey’s First Lady Tammy Snyder Murphy

In addition, the keynote speakers for Women Entrepreneurs Rock 7 are Ilsy J Hoo, CEO, Accomplished Women LLC and the current Miss New Jersey for America along with Lauren Concar Sheehy, Executive Director, Garden State Film Festival.
